How to Insert an Invisible Zipper?

The invisible zipper is composed of the teeth of chain, zipper puller, stop or locking piece, etc. The chain teeth is the key part, which directly determines the side tensile strength of the zipper. Generally, the invisible zipper has two straps, and each strap has a row of teeth. Invisible zipper is mainly used in down jacket, jeans, leather clothes, high-grade jacket, cold clothing and so on. So, how to insert an invisible zipper? 

Let's first take a look at how to insert the Y tooth zipper. Firstly, we thread the zipper opening and then iron the position where the zipper is inserted. Secondly, we should position the closed end metal zipper on the opposite side of the clothes, so that the edge of the clothes on the right side of the zipper is aligned with the edge of the seam position. Thirdly, fasten the zipper roll and the clothes to the 1/4 inch seam. At this point, we must be careful not to jam the clothes. Then, we should flip the zipper to the front. Next, we need to unfold the fabric so that the clothes are facing up. The last thing we need to do is to remove the stitches.

Before inserting the invisible zipper, it is best to iron some adhesive lining on the zipper area. Especially when sewing light or unstable fabrics, using a thin fusible interlining about 1 inch wide and as long as the zipper opening will greatly help the maintain the appearance of the zipper. The steps for inserting the invisible zipper are as follow.

1. First, we should determine the insertion position of the zipper and the required length. The top of the zipper should leave a margin of 0.5-0.7cm from the edge of the garment. Then we need to mark the length of the opening on the bottom of the zipper.

2. Secure the auto lock invisible zipper slider to the garment with a pin. We need to sew the zipper on the garment and take off a pin after a period of sewing.

3. After sewing the zipper, we should unzip and iron it. In addition, we should be careful not to overheat the zipper.

4. Use invisible zipper presser foot to sew the zipper on the clothes.

When pulling the invisible zipper, sometimes the zipper can't move because the zipper is clamped to the cloth. At this point, if you keep pulling, it will only make the zipper more difficult to move. Therefore, we suggest that the cloth stuck in the puller should be pulled out as much as possible. If it's completely stuck, we just have to pull it up slowly.

If the zipper puller in the zipper slider is accidentally damaged, the best solution is to find a shelved old zipper. We can remove the zipper puller and attach it to the new zipper.
