What are Snap Buttons?

Views: 248     Author: Site Editor     Publish Time: 2021-11-29      Origin: Site

Snap buttons are a set of small fused discs, usually used in fabrics as a substitute for conventional buttons. They are also called press studs, snaps or poppers, and are usually made of metal. At KYY, we are a professional snap buttons manufacturer in China, and we also provide products to different countries around the world.

Types of Snap Buttons

There are two types of snaps: spring snaps and ring snaps. Ring snaps are probably the loop snaps you are most likely to encounter in a nearby fabric store. Although they are suitable for heavy-duty applications, they do not seem to be easy to install. If possible, go for the spring snaps. They are slightly softer on the fabric and look great from all angles after installation, giving us a professional ready-made look.

Applications of Snap Buttons

Metal spring buttons have many uses and can be used in various settings to connect materials with different strengths and toughness, including leather, canvas fabric, terry fabric and knitted fabric. In addition, we recommend using them to attach fabrics to solid surfaces such as cardboard, plastic or wood, or to connect two or more parts of material in one place.

Similarly, snaps can be used not only to connect clothes, but also to connect other items, such as duffel bags, garment jackets, footwear, dog belts and safety belts, and saddles.

As a company, we always make sure to use the correct application technology when installing our snaps so that they can last longer. For example, we pay attention to choosing the correct perforation size so that our clothing fasteners can perfectly fit inside the fabric.

How to Install Snap Buttons?

You need a small round anvil and two different snap setting tools. If you have a hammer, you also need a hammer and awl. Note that it is very, very important to interact with any area to which you want to apply the capture. Without the added stability, your snaps may fall off, tearing the fabric during the entire process.

Each clothe snap button has four parts. Button caps with sockets and studs with corresponding posts. The end of the snap setting tool for the bottle cap and socket is slightly narrower, while the stud/post tool is wider, with a notch at the bottom to accommodate the post.

Install the cover and socket first. The flat cap is placed on the outside of the clothes, and the donut-shaped socket is on the inside. This is what receives the stud.

Determine the location to be located, and then mark the location with a pencil. Use a hole punch or awl to make a hole in the fabric, then insert the button cap post into the hole, again ensuring that the cap is on the outside of the garment.

Place the spring socket on the cap post, and then place the bottom of the cap in the recess of the anvil with the socket facing upward.

Pass the end of the narrower tool through the socket and align it with the upright, making sure everything is aligned straight. Use a hammer to add some hard wax to the installation tool to press down the cap, it will flatten and lock into the socket.

Please install all caps and sockets before installing the studs and uprights.

After installation, close the placket and mark the positions of the corresponding studs and uprights with a pencil. This area will be the trickiest area because you have to punch holes in the multilayer fabric. Here, a wider awl is essential.

The appearance of the stud and the upright is obviously different from the other half of the stud. The part with the longer post is attached to the reverse side of the fabric. The part that looks like a bowler hat will appear on the right. The stud will lock with the socket on the corresponding side.

Use an awl or hole punch to make room. The stud post is much wider than the cap post, so you may need to make the hole slightly larger. I have two sizes of awl, and I like to use the larger one to widen the stud hole. Also, make sure to place the terminal and stud on the right side so that your buttons align correctly.

Place the stud on top of the post and place the base of the post on top of the anvil.

Use the wider setting tool with the indent at the bottom, and align the indent with the stud. Hammer the setting tool a few times to lock it on the post.

Finish up by testing each custom snap button to make sure they are correctly installed.
