What is the difference between zippers? In most cases, the zipper will always be used as a device to close or secure a bag or garment. The biggest difference between zippers is the teeth and application. In our zipper factory, we divide the teeth into the following categories: nylon coils, plastic molded and metal zippers. Let us look at the specific differences below.
1. Nylon coil
Nylon coil zipper refers to the nylon monofilament being "crimped" into teeth. Then sew it on the zipper tape to make the final zipper product. Nylon roll zipper is the first choice for outdoor and luggage industry. For tents, backpacks, suitcases and camping clothing, you will most likely find nylon coil zippers. The structure of the nylon coil zipper makes it have a stronger horizontal strength. All our luggage is packed too much, and the zipper that prevents the suitcase from exploding is a nylon coil zipper. If the teeth are not aligned, the nylon roll zipper is also easy to repair.
The nylon monofilament can be easily corrected by pulling and pulling away beyond the misalignment of the teeth, and in most cases it will fix itself. Another thing to note is that with nylon coil zippers, the zipper head can be placed on the zipper chain in either direction and the zipper will still work.
2. Invisible zipper
There are two types of invisible zippers. Real invisible zippers are usually used in women's skirts and rewind or invisible zippers. We call them "invisible zippers". Invisible zippers are sewn into the seams of the skirt to create a clean look. If you look closely at an invisible zipper, you will find that there are pleats on the zipper strap that can be sewn to the seam line.
On the other hand, the invisible identical zipper is a conventional nylon loop, which is oriented backwards to provide an invisible appearance. With this type of zipper, you will not be able to sew all the way to the seam because there needs to be enough space to move the slider. When your design requires a neat appearance, and you need larger specifications than "invisible zipper", you usually use "invisible same zipper".
3. Plastic molded zipper
Plastic molded zippers are made of acetal polymers, which are extruded through a die to shape the teeth. The teeth are completely symmetrical, which means that the slider used for plastic molded zippers can run in either direction. Plastic molded zippers are versatile. They are mainly used in clothing and certain handbags. It only depends on the appearance of the final design. If one of the zipper teeth breaks over time, it is almost impossible to repair one tooth.
4. Metal zipper
Metal zippers also have several different surface treatments and specifications. The most common finishes are brass, antique brass, nickel, antique nickel and gun metal. Sometimes copper and antique copper are used, but they are definitely not as popular as other surface treatments. Different industries in the garment manufacturing industry will choose one finish over another based on the appearance of the final garment.
Zippers of different materials have different ways of application, and we need to choose according to actual usage.
