Recycled Zipper: The Secret of KKK Zipper in Reducing Plastic Waste

The KKK PET recycling project was established in 2018 to effectively and scientifically recycle our company's waste zipper products. While fulfilling the environmental responsibility of reducing pollution and saving resources, our goal is to maximize profits by reducing costs. The initial recycling target is 1,000 tons per year.

Serious Environmental Problems

As we all know, plastic pollution is one of the biggest pollution problems. It is hard for plastic to decompose naturally in nature. To make matters worse, plastic waste gathering in the ocean will pollute the marine environment, destroy the terrestrial ecosystem when buried, and release toxic gases when burned. Therefore, reducing and reusing plastic waste is of great significance.

The Process of Recycling Waste Plastic

For nylon zippers waste, the PET materials can be recycled, and non-PET materials should be sorted and removed.

Process irregular PET waste into regular fragments (4mm×3mm×3mm).

The adhesion index of recycled particles is generally 0.68dl/g, which meets the requirements of spinning after solid-phase treatment. After solid-phase treatment, the regenerated particles can be 100% spinning. The finished monofilament can meet the quality standard of conventional monofilament except for the original black nylon zipper.

In several processes of nylon zipper, a certain amount of operation waste and substandard products will inevitably be generated. Afterwards, these discarded nylon zippers can be recycled again.

KKK Recycled Zipper

KKK Zipper launched a resource-saving, recycling-oriented zipper to solve plastic waste. The highlight of recycled zippers is its ribbon-like yarns, which are made of recycled polyester. The recycled polyester fiber is made from discarded PET bottles and discarded zippers. These three types of KKK zippers have passed GRS, bluesign® and Oeko-Tex certifications, which can meet consumers' needs for green and recycled products. Those zippers made of PET water bottles can be used again after use, forming a good recycling circle. The proportion of environmentally friendly materials can be as high as 70%.

Finished nylon zipper: 70% recyclable polyester fiber

Finished plastic zipper: 45% recycled polyester fiber

Plastic zipper chain: 55% recycled polyester fiber
